Our Comeback Story

What started as a dream abruptly came to an end in an instant.

Like so many small business owners, we built our boutique from the ground up.  After running our business via our website and online markets for a few years, we leased a space inside Painted Tree — pouring in long hours, big hopes and everything we had. It wasn’t just a shop. It was something we believed in. 

The backstory:  while our first Painted Tree lease was for the Sunset Valley, TX location, our first actual Painted Tree location to set up was Kingwood, TX.  As those stores flourished, we leased additional locations throughout the Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas areas.  What started out as a small business dream in the fall of 2023 turned into a nightmare at approximately 11:30 am on April 14, 2026. 

Without warning, Painted Tree announced that they were closing every location effective immediately and everything changed in an instant!  We were given just days to clear out—not just one space, but eight locations across Texas! Inventory, displays, time & money… all at risk of being lost. 

What we had worked so hard to build was suddenly in jeopardy, but walking away from it was never an option!  This isn't just a business....it's a passion!  It’s a commitment to supporting local, creating something meaningful and showing up for the community that supports us.

So we packed up, we pivoted and we got to work clearing stores of inventory, struggling with landlords changing locks and the added challenge of locations that were hours apart in travel time! At the end of it all, we were completely moved out of all 8 locations in five days.  We were able to recover all of our inventory and almost all of our displays.  Based on what was at stake, we call that a WIN!  

This isn't our end - not even close!  What you'll find is a small business sorting through the chaos while rebuilding our dream.....a small business with heart and passion for the things we create and the lovely faces we meet through our events!
